Sports Massage

Appointments are available 7 days a week, including early mornings or late evenings.

Sports Massage covers three main areas: pre/post event, maintenance and rehabilitation.

Event Massage can take place either before or after exercise. A pre-event massage is the perfect preparation for a big race. It warms the muscles, maximising circulation and helping to reduce the risk of injury. It also increases flexibility and helps to improve range of motion. Post-event massage aids in the reduction of the muscle spasms, cramps and metabolic build up that occur after intensive exercise.

Regular Maintenance Massage is designed to help an athlete on his or her journey to reaching their peak performance. It helps to decrease recovery times between training sessions and allows the therapist to identify areas where problems could develop, allowing the athlete to address the cause before these become serious. Maintenance massage also helps to improve range of motion and flexibility, leaving the athlete to train harder and with less risk of injury.

Rehabilitation Massage aids in the management of both acute and chronic injuries. As well as speeding the return to functional fitness, it can also alleviate pain. It incorporates many techniques, including soft tissue work, muscle energy and neuro-muscular facilitation, trigger point therapy and myofascial release.

Massage isn’t just for athletes though. It’s also great if you work out on a regular basis, have a physical job or just enjoy a deep tissue massage.
