video gait analysis

Running just one mile, your feet might strike the ground up to 1600 times, with an impact of between 2.5 – 3 times your bodyweight.  It’s little wonder then that runners can be prone to injury, but it doesn’t need to be this way.

You probably know that running shoes are designed to absorb this impact with all kinds of clever technologies and materials. But while it can be tempting to pick the shoes with the most technology worked into them, it’s important to make sure the support, grip, lightness, breathability and flexibility are suited your running style.

At Fitstuff, we offer a free video gait analysis service. We’ll ask you to get on the treadmill for a quick run, during which a video camera will capture your running style. From this video, we’ll analyse your gait and recommend some shoes with the right support, cushioning and flexibility for you. Getting a combination of features in your running shoe that complements your style can help to minimise fatigue, meaning that you can run for longer, recover faster and hopefully stay smiling and injury free.

A video gait analysis usually takes around 15 minutes, but it has been known to go on for a bit longer – so please allow plenty of time.
